Fashion designer Prudent Gabriel has revealed that she felt bad about getting married before her immediate elder sister, disclosing that she even offered to postpone her wedding until the following year.
Speaking during a recent church service, Prudent said she contacted her sister before fixing her wedding date to find out if she was comfortable with her getting married first.
“Are you okay that I’m getting married before you?” she recalled asking her sister.
According to the designer, she offered to move the wedding to the following year, explaining that neither she nor her husband was in a hurry to get married.
“I don’t mind, though. Me, I’m not rushing. My husband is not rushing, that we can move it to next year,” she recalled telling her sister.
However, her sister encouraged her to proceed with the wedding, assuring her that the marriage would be a blessing to her.
“She said, ‘Prudence, your marriage is going to be a blessing to me,’” she recalled.
Prudent explained that her sister was also taking her time with her relationship because her partner was not ready for marriage at the time.
She added that despite her sister’s understanding and support, she still felt bad about getting married first, as she knew her elder sister had not yet taken the same step.
Recounting an emotional moment on her wedding day, the fashion designer said she hugged her sister and expressed hope that she would also get married the following year.
Prudent reiterated that she had considered postponing her wedding out of consideration for her elder sister, but her sister encouraged her to move forward with her marriage.
